Memorial Day weekend has often been a deadly time on Kentucky roads and there will be extra law enforcement out looking to stop and arrest anyone driving impaired.
Christian County Sheriff Tyler DeArmond says his agency will be among those participating in the Office of Highway Safety program to put extra deputies on the roads this weekend and says if you plan on drinking this holiday weekend, plan a safe and sober ride home.
Kentucky State Police are also reminding people to wear their seat belts. KSP has launched their “Click It or Ticket” campaign, which lasts for two weeks. Officials say it is not about writing people up, but instead about saving their lives.
The Kentucky Office of Highway Safety says over half of those who died in motor vehicle incidents in the commonwealth last year were either not wearing their seat belts or not restrained properly in a car seat.
