High speed pursuit with shots fired ends with crash, arrest

A high speed pursuit Wednesday morning that entered Christian County from Muhlenberg County ended in front of the East Seventh Street Dollar General store with a crash and the arrest of the driver who had allegedly fired multiple shots at police.

The incident began in McLean County and the red sedan driven by 31-year old Cody Pacomio Gene Alire of Indiana entered Christian County on Greenville Road just after 10 a.m. and exceeded 100 mph at times as he was pursued by Kentucky State Police, the Christian County Sheriff’s Office and Hopkinsville police as he came into the city.

He allegedly fired gunshots at pursuing officers, but no one was injured.

The suspect caused an accident near the Lacy Dollar General and one person in that vehicle was taken by EMS to Jennie Stuart Medical Center for non-life-threatening injuries.

Tire deflation devices were used by HPD and Alire wrecked out into a utility pole in front of the East Seventh Street Dollar General. EMS was called to check him for any potential injuries.

Alire was arrested and charged with two counts of attempted murder of a police officer, two counts of first-degree assault, 15 counts of wanton endangerment, felony auto theft, fleeing or evading police, several traffic violations and he’s a fugitive from Indiana on outstanding warrants.
