Members of the Southwestern Kentucky Economic Development Council Board of Directors got an update on projects happening in Commerce Park #2 and other events happening in the region at Monday’s meeting.
Executive Director Carter Hendricks says work continues quickly on the spec building off I-24 in Trigg County, and also at Commerce Park #2, where you can already see big changes as it prepares for Ascend Elements and Microvast.
While preparations are underway there for construction to begin, Hendricks says they continue to host job fairs across the region to help fill positions at those new industries, along with existing industries that always need more employees.
The unemployment rate remains fairly low across the area, at 4.5 percent in Christian County, with the state average at 3.8 percent.
There will also be a job fair at the Boys and Girls Club in Hopkinsville on May 31st from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m.—for more information, or to stay up to date on economic development in the region, follow the Southwestern Economic Development Council on Facebook.
