Investigation by Hopkinsville police Wednesday night led to the arrest of a man on cocaine trafficking charges.
Officers were responding to reports of a burglary in progress about 10:15 p.m. and found 21-year old Detraveon Chamberlain of Hopkinsville on a bridge near Westside Park behind the home in question.
An arrest citation says Chamberlain took a bag from around his neck and tossed it into a field.
Police recovered it and say they found a loaded handgun, to baggies of cocaine and $132 cash inside.
Chamberlain was arrested and charged with trafficking in cocaine, possession of cocaine, tampering with evidence, and possession of a handgun by a convicted felon.
