734 have voted early or absentee in Christian County

Early voting came to a close Saturday afternoon across Kentucky and while turnout hasn’t been stellar, the process has moved smoothly.

Christian County Clerk Melinda Humphries says 680 people took advantage of early voting in Christian County, Trigg County Clerk Carmen Finley says 338 voted early there and Todd County Clerk Cindy O’Bryan reports that only about 50 people there voted early. Another 54 Christian County voters have cast absentee ballots either in person or by mail.

Humphries was at the Bruce Convention Center when early voting was ending Saturday afternoon and said Thursday was the busiest day.

Election officers have new tablets to use to check in voters this year and so far the reviews have been positive.

Polls will be open across Kentucky from 6 a.m. until 6 p.m. Tuesday as Democrats and Republicans choose their nominees for state constitutional officers.
