Todd Fiscal Court approves first reading of budget

Todd Fiscal Court at its first meeting of May Friday morning approved first reading of a budget for the upcoming fiscal year.

Judge-Executive Todd Mansfield says the $28.5 million spending plan doesn’t anticipate any tax increases, it includes a six and a half percent pay raise for county employees and it’s very similar to the spending plan for the current fiscal year.

Fifteen-million dollars of that figure is state grant money for early stages of construction of a new natural gas line.

A representative of the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet presented their rural and secondary road program proposals for the upcoming year—with all of Fairgrounds Road to be repaved and a section of Allensville Road from the Elk Fork Creek bridge to US 68 to be resurfaced.

Judge Mansfield appointed Terry Minuth, Ethan Chester and Brent Spurlin as commissioners to begin the process of magisterial reapportionment as the county looks over census figures to see if any alterations need to be made to district boundaries.

Magistrates tabled a contract to go forward with drafting a comprehensive plan for potential countywide planning and zoning to allow for additional time to go over the proposed agreement until the May 31 special-called meeting. Todd County County Attorney Jeff Traughber says the cities of Guthrie, Trenton and Elkton each agreed to become part of a city-county planning commission, should the county choose to go that route.
