Mayor J.R. Knight is gearing up to unveil his first budget as mayor of Hopkinsville, and he thinks it shows he’s intent to focus on the community.
His budget address is set for Friday morning at 9 a.m. and Mayor Knight says he hopes it shows that he is intent to make public safety and taking care of existing infrastructure and people in the city his top priorities.
He says he’s learned a lot through the budget making process for the city, and he’s grateful for everyone who has helped him navigate those waters.
Mayor Knight says the budget address will be viewable online later that day, but people are also welcome to attend in person—it will be in the Hopkinsville Municipal Building in City Council chambers.
Following the press conference, the budget will be taken up for consideration by Hopkinsville City Council at a series of upcoming Committee of the Whole meetings.
