HES to have customer appreciation events this week

Hopkinsville Electric System is inviting folks to come out to their Picnic at the Park events Wednesday and Thursday as they show their appreciation for their customers.

General Manager Jeff Hurd appeared on WHOP Tuesday morning and says they’ll be at Debow Recreational Park on Wednesday and at East Second Street Park Thursday, from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. both days, with prizes and food on hand.

HES EnergyNet continues to be upgraded and expanded throughout the city—along with a wider broadband initiative with Pennyrile Electric and Christian Fiscal Court—and Hurd says they are making good progress on both fronts.

HES gets their power from the Tennessee Valley Authority, and Hurd says TVA is working diligently to grow their power base to help meet growing demand in the region.

It’s been a challenging year for HES so far, as it has for other electric power providers, starting all the way back in December with historic cold temperatures that resulted in rolling blackouts from TVA, and then historic wind events and storms that put down trees and power poles, putting customers in the dark.
