>>Cardinals Crush Tigers

 

(St. Louis, MO)  — The Cardinals scored seven runs in the bottom of the sixth during a 12-6 win over the Detroit Tigers at Busch Stadium.  The offensive outburst came one half-inning after the Tigers put up five runs to take a three-run lead.  Paul Goldschmidt smashed three home runs and drove in four during the victory, while Brendan Donovan also went deep.  Drew VerHagen earned his second win in relief as the Cardinals snapped an eight-game losing streak.  St. Louis remains in last place in the NL Central at 11-and-24.  The Cardinals send Miles Mikolas to the mound against the Cubs in Chicago tonight.

 

>>Reds Blown Out By White Sox In Series Finale

 

(Cincinnati, OH)  — The Reds got blown out by the White Sox 17-4 in their series finale from Cincinnati.  Graham Ashcraft got the loss after surrendering eight runs while recording just five outs.  Wil Myers, Tyler Stephenson, Jonathan India and Spencer Steer each blasted solo homers in the defeat.  The Reds dropped two-of-three and are now 14-and-20.  Cincy is fourth in the NL Central and opens a three-game series at home tomorrow against the Mets.
