PADD hears about impact, development for Eddyville Riverport and Industrial Development Authority

The Pennyrile Area Development District Board of Directors learned more about the Eddyville Riverport and what industrial development is happening there at Monday’s meeting.

Treasurer Glen Kinder of the Industrial Development Authority says Eddyville is proud of their riverport and knows for a fact the positive impact it has on the community and the region as whole, as the riverport is a huge source of trade, economic development and investment.

Two Lyon County locations were recently designated as “build ready” sites, and Kinder says it’s a tremendous designation that will only help advance the area.

Site A includes 20 – 80 acres within the Eddyville city limits at the Eddyville Industrial Park. Site B consists of 8 – 20 acres within the same industrial park. He says the riverport faces its fair share of challenges, including a lack of funding at the state level—he hopes that changes as more people come to understand the benefits of the port in western Kentucky.

The Eddyville Riverport was established in 1976 and specializes in industrial logistics consisting of river, road, and rail transport.
