Community shows up in support of Salvation Army at taco dinner

The War Memorial Building was filled with sounds of live music and the smells of good food, as the Salvation Army of Hopkinsville held their Taco Dinner fundraiser Friday evening.

There were activities, plenty of music and more than enough food on hand for the event and people were certainly coming through to help raise money so local children can experience the summer camp experience. Lt. Lindsey Galabeas was thrilled with the turnout, saying they were blessed with the community’s generosity and camp will be a great experience for those children.

She says it’s an experience that many of the kids may not normally get the chance to have, and they’re putting out the word for people to get those kids registered if they are interested.

Overall, roughly $5,600 was raised to help send kids to camp.  There was a silent auction that attendees could take part in, with items ranging from home décor to grills to furniture and more. The Salvation Army of Hopkinsville is always accepting of new volunteers and donations—for more information, follow them on Facebook.
