Christian County Schools has announced Carrie Caples will serve as the new principal at Bluegrass Learning Academy.
Caples most recently served as the principal at Martin Luther King, Jr. Elementary and according to a news release, Caples will report directly to Superintendent Chris Bentzel.
Caples has had a lengthy career with Christian County Public Schools, beginning as a bus monitor, bus driver and an instructional assistant with the district while completing her post-secondary education. After earning her Bachelor of Science from Murray State University with an emphasis in education, Caples was hired as a teacher at Morningside Elementary. After two years at Morningside, she began her tenure with Martin Luther King, Jr. Elementary where she taught until 2017 when she became principal there.
Caples says, “This is a bittersweet opportunity for me. So much of my career has been spent at MLK, first teaching then as principal, and I love being a Lion. But anyone who knows me knows I have a passion for mentoring students. Some see students from Bluegrass Academy as ‘at risk students’, but I see these students as ‘at promise students’ – they just don’t see it yet. It is my vision to help these students see the potential within themselves and help them develop a plan that sets them on the road to success. I know there will be challenges, but I am ready for the task.”
