Republican candidate for Kentucky Ag. Commissioner Jonathan Shell was at H&R Agri Power in Hopkinsville for a meet and greet event Tuesday morning as he seeks votes for the GOP nomination.
Shell shook hands with customers, employees, Judge-Executive Jerry Gilliam, state Representative Walker Thomas and others who were on hand and says he intends to be a ‘fighter’ for agriculture and farmers if he’s elected.
The former state representative from Garrard County believes local farmers are doing things right and that the southern Pennyrile region can be a model for farming across Kentucky.
He says the Department of Agriculture needs to retool and focus on the people and ideas that will make farmers successful in modern times.
Shell is facing state Representative Richard Heath of Mayfield in the Republican primary.
