County Clerk talks elections, voting with Rotary Club

The Rotary Club of Hopkinsville got a visit from Christian County Clerk Melinda Humphries, and she’s gearing up for the primary election on May 16 while settling into her new role.

Humphries knows a thing or two about elections—before being elected as County Clerk in 2022, she served as elections coordinator for the county for about 20 years. Heading into the primary election, Humphries says she is focused on making sure people are educated about how they can vote.

Aside from making sure the process goes smoothly leading up to and on Election Day, Humphries says they’ll also be compiling data to determine what voting locations are most-utilized and under-utilized to see if adjustments can be made.

Christian County was randomly selected to undergo an audit of its election system, and she says they hope to receive a report on that soon, but it is an intense audit with a lot of investigation.

Early voting in Christian County will be May 11-13 at the Bruce Convention Center and Christian County Senior Center, and a list of where you can vote across the county can be found on the Christian County Clerk’s Office Facebook page, along with sample ballots.
