A two-vehicle accident involving a dump truck loaded with asphalt Monday afternoon at Canton Pike and the Bypass sent one person to a Nashville hospital.
Hopkinsville Police Sgt. Rico Rodriguez says the driver of the dump truck was westbound on Eagle Way and apparently ran a red light at Canton Pike, causing it to collide with a van that was southbound on Canton Pike.
A woman had to be extricated from the minivan and was taken by EMS to the Jennie Stuart Health helipad to be flown by Air Evac to Skyline Medical Center.
Names of those involved have not been released.
The northbound lanes of the Bypass will likely be closed for several hours to allow for cleanup.
