Tennessee Titans a step closer to new stadium.

A new stadium is becoming closer to a reality for the Titans.  The Metro Nashville City council approved a 760-million-dollar investment yesterday to help fund the new venue. The council voted 26-12, in favor of the investment after a five-hour public hearing.

The Tennessean reports, nearly 70 percent of speakers opposed the deal.

A total of 1.2-billion has been financed by the public for the domed stadium and is the largest public funding ever for an NFL stadium.  The total cost is estimated at just over 2-billion-dollars.  The new stadium will feature a translucent roof and has a capacity of about 60-thousand people.

Titans president and chief executive, Burke Nihill believes that this project will be a great tool in the furthering advancement of the city of Nashville.

“This is a generational opportunity to address our city’s priorities and ensure its health and vitality for the next 30 years”

After proven success with hosting things such as the NFL draft, SEC tournament, Music City Bowl, and WWE SummerSlam, Nashville will aim for bigger events including the Super Bowl, NCAA Final Four, College Football Playoff, and WrestleMania.

The Titans hope to have the stadium built and ready by the 2027 season.
