Downtown Hopkinsville home to new over-sized wheat sculpture

Downtown Hopkinsville is now home to its newest sculpture—an over-sized gathering of wheat on the corner of Ninth and South Main Street.

The sculpture stands at 11 feet tall and weighs 1,500 pounds—a bit more than your average handful of stalks of wheat, and Conventions and Visitors Bureau Executive Director Brooke Jung says it’s made by Brainchild Creative LLC and stands tall in Founders’ Square.

Jung says it highlights the Batter Capital of the World designation by honoring where all that begins—with wheat and the farmers that grow it.

People will be able to snap photos with the giant grain and also scan a QR code on it that details more about what makes Hopkinsville the Batter Capital of the World. The first 100 people that arrived at a celebration Thursday received a wheat-themed fan and a baked dessert from local bakers at the Corner Coffeehouse and Baked Hopkinsville.
