A man was charged with his third DUI following a vehicle pursuit Tuesday night in Hopkinsville.
Officers were contacted after a caller said 58-year old William Crick of Hopkinsville nearly crashed in the Arby’s drive thru lane on West Seventh Street and an arrest citation says he fled when officers approached his pickup.
He eventually stopped at the intersection of Dawson Springs Road and the Bypass and the report says there was an odor of alcohol coming from his vehicle and that there was several empty or half-empty bottles and cans of alcohol in the truck.
Police say Crick showed signs of impairment, performed poorly on field sobriety tests and registered a blood alcohol content of .216, over twice the legal limit
A computer check showed Crick had two prior DUI convictions.
He’s charged with fleeing or evading police and possession of an open alcohol container, in addition to his third DUI.
