(San Francisco, CA) — The Cardinals gave up three runs in the bottom of the ninth to blow a two-run lead as they lost 5-4 to the Giants in San Francisco. The Cardinals scored three times in the top of the eighth on an RBI double by Tyler O’Neill and a two-run single from Paul Goldschmidt, but Ryan Helsley couldn’t hold the lead and was charged with his second loss. Tommy Edman went deep in the losing effort. The Cardinals are fourth in the NL Central at 9-and-15. Steven Matz gets the call for the Cards against the Giants tonight.

(Cincinnati, OH) — The Reds scored late runs in a 7-6 comeback victory over the Rangers in Cincinnati. The team trailed by five heading into the bottom of the eighth until Jonathan India doubled home two runs as part of a six-run inning. Alexis Diaz slammed the door shut on Texas to earn his third save of the season. The Reds aim to sweep the series this afternoon. Graham Ashcraft gets the start opposite Jon Gray.
