The bell rang for the final time late last night on the 73rd WHOP Rotary Radio Auction, with over a half-million dollars raised for local students to attend college and to fund other causes Rotary supports in the community.
Auction Chair Brandon Killebrew did the honors on the final item, selling a country ham to next year’s chair.
Killebrew thanked everyone who played a role in making this year’s auction a success, including Rotarians who worked at the War Memorial Building and folks who bid or donated cash and items.
The week ended with an overall total of $523,671.55 raised, close to last year’s record total of $536,000.
An incredible 762 items sold for about $123,000 during the six nights of the auction, just over $37,000 was made from the diner and sweet shop and the Hour Club and Goat Club brought in just under $364,000.
