(St. Louis, MO) — The Cardinals managed just six hits during a 5-0 loss to the Pittsburgh Pirates at Busch Stadium yesterday. The game was scoreless heading into the sixth inning before Carlos Santana hit an RBI double for Pittsburgh. Jordan Montgomery had a strong start but was charged with the loss after giving up two runs on six hits in six-and-a-third innings. Brendan Donovan had a pair of hits during the losing effort. The Cardinals remain in last place in the NL Central at 5-and-8. Jordan Woodford goes for his first win when he mans the rubber against the PIrates tonight.

(Cincinnati, OH) — The Reds edged the Phillies 6-2 in their series opener in Cincinnati. Nick Lodolo walked the tightrope and earned a win after allowing two runs on eight hits over five innings. Wil Myers drove in a pair of runs for Cincy, which improved to 5-and-7. The Reds are now fourth in the NL Central. Game two of the four-game series takes place tonight. Connor Overton gets the start opposite Taijuan Walker.

Memphis shutout Gwinnett 3-0 and improved to 7-and-5. Louisville fell to Toledo 13-6 and dropped to 2-and-10. All three teams will play in game four of the six-game series tonight.
