Indictments for murder, first-degree assault returned by grand jury

Indictments returned by a Christian County Grand Jury Friday afternoon including ones for murder and first-degree assault.

Indicted for murder in the first degree and first-degree wanton endangerment is 60-year-old Rodolfo Amaya of Oak Grove.  He is alleged to have shot and killed 43-year-old Dante Welch on New Gritton Avenue in March of this year—he allegedly shot Welch, who was inside of a parked vehicle, in front of a toddler who was also in the vehicle.

A witness reported seeing the incident occur and the suspected murder weapon was found in Amaya’s home, according to the arrest report.

Indicted for first-degree assault is 45-year-old Edwin Stewart of Oak Grove, who allegedly assaulted and then shot Christopher Wortham with a handgun. The incident happened outside of a party on Kerri Lane in Oak Grove and Wortham was flown to a Nashville hospital for treatment.

The grand jury has indicted 37-year-old Reneisha Wilson of Hopkinsville for first-degree assault, second-degree assault, two counts of first-degree wanton endangerment, first-degree burglary and theft by unlawful taking.  She is accused of breaking into the home of her ex-boyfriend in the 300 block of Pine Hill Drive and causing significant damage.

The report says she struck the male victim on the head with a baseball bat and struck the arm of a female victim, who had to be taken by EMS to Jennie Stuart Health for treatment of a possible fracture. She also allegedly held both victims at gunpoint.
