Bond modification granted for suspect accused in infant’s death

After hearing testimony from Fort Campbell officials in Christian Circuit Court Wednesday, bond was modified for Alexander Heck, the man charged in the March 2022 death of an infant.

Heck’s defense attorney, Michael Thompson, requested his client’s bond be reduced to ten percent of $100,000, saying a $10,000 bond is still a hardship. Officials with Fort Campbell testified in court what Heck’s duties would be and how they would strictly supervise him.

Commonwealth’s Attorney Stephanie Bolen reiterated that she is against a bond reduction, but says she would want him to have an ankle monitor should he be released from custody.

Judge Andrew Self granted the bond modification, saying Heck will have strict conditions upon his release, including wearing an ankle monitor and being confined to Fort Campbell under direct supervision of his commanding officer.

The next pretrial hearing in this case is set for May 10.

The indictment for first-degree murder and tampering with physical evidence against Heck alleges he “wantonly engaged in conduct” that led to the victim’s death on March 1 of last year. Heck is also accused of tampering with evidence by concealing, removing or altering evidence that he believed was about to be used in an official proceeding.
