Alcohol suspected as factor in injury accident

Alcohol is suspected as a factor in a two-vehicle accident from Friday night at Country Club Lane and Cox Mill Road that sent two people to the hospital.

The collision report from Hopkinsville police says 23-year old Christian Reyes-Jojin of Milan, Tennessee was southbound on Cox Mill and witnesses said he sped up to attempt to beat the light before it changed to red.

Police say he entered the intersection with a red light and collided with a westbound pickup pulling a trailer driven by 42-year old Thomas Coleman of Elkton.

Reyes-Jojin reportedly told police initially that he had not been driving the vehicle, but later admitted he lied.

An arrest citation says he showed signs of impairment, admitted to drinking prior to driving and registered a blood alcohol content of .196 when tested at the hospital.

He and a three-year old passenger in Coleman’s vehicle were both taken by EMS to Jennie Stuart Medical Center.

Following treatment, Reyes-Jojin was arrested and charged with his second DUI, driving on a DUI suspended license, driving without insurance, possession of an open alcohol container, falsely reporting an incident and disregarding a traffic control device.
