MLB Update 4/6/2023

>Cardinals Get Swept By Braves

(St. Louis, MO)  —  The Cardinals are on a three-game losing streak following a 5-2 loss to the Atlanta Braves at Busch Stadium.  The Cardinals fell behind early after giving up three runs in the opening frame.  St. Louis wasn’t able to get on the board until the seventh inning.  Miles Mikolas allowed five runs on nine hits in six innings and was charged with the loss.  Jordan Walker went deep for the first time in his MLB career in the losing effort.  Jack Flaherty starts for St. Louis against Milwaukee tomorrow night.

>>O’Neill Gets Benched

(St. Louis, MO)  — Things aren’t going smoothly in the Cardinals club house.  Outfielder Tyler O’Neill was benched during yesterday’s loss to Atlanta a day after manager Oli Marmol questioned O’Neill’s effort.  Marmol told reporters after Tuesday’s 4-1 loss that O’Neill showed a lack of effort while trying to score from second in the third inning of the contest.  O’Neill was thrown out at the plate, and he took exception to Marmol’s comments after the game.  Before yesterday’s game, he said that he goes all-out in every game, and he added that Marmol should have handled the issues in-house.  Dylan Carlson replaced O’Neill with the start in center field.
