Attorneys to talk trial date in 2021 murder case

The special prosecutor and attorney for the alleged gunman in the October, 2021 fatal shooting of 23-year old Adrian Acree at Sharpe and Jones Street in Hopkinsville will spend the next three weeks talking about bond and a potential trial date following a hearing Wednesday morning in Christian Circuit Court.

Crittenden County Commonwealth’s Attorney Zach Greenwell has been appointed special prosecutor in the case of Cortez Hairston, Jr. and says he’s still waiting to receive the full court file.

Ted Shouse is representing Hairston and Judge John Atkins told him and Greenwell to see if they can agree on any potential bond modification and to look over their schedules to potentially set a trial date at an April 26 hearing.

A grand jury in April of last year indicted Hairston for murder and 24-year old Jaila Sherrod and 23-year old Dekorian Daniel for complicity to murder.
