A traffic stop of a vehicle early Tuesday morning at McLean Avenue and the Pennyrile Parkway in Hopkinsville led to the arrest of an Owensboro man on multiple felony charges.
An arrest citation for 18-year old Kyreon Whitley of Owensboro says he was a passenger in the vehicle and a routine computer check showed he was wanted on two warrants out of Daviess County for failure to appear in court.
A search of the car allegedly revealed a half-smoked marijuana cigar in the seat where Whitley had been sitting and a backpack in his floorboard containing two handguns.
Police allege he attempted to hide a baggie of fentanyl pills by stuffing them between the seat cushions in the rear seat of the police cruiser and that a search of his person at the jail turned up additional marijuana and pills.
Whitley is charged with gun-enhanced trafficking in fentanyl, possession of marijuana, tampering with evidence and promoting contraband.
