Special prosecutor appointed in Sharpe St. murder case

A special prosecutor has been appointed in the murder case of Mory Burse, the man accused in the 2021 shooting death of Devon Kendrick on Sharpe Street in Hopkinsville.

Former Trigg County Commonwealth’s Attorney G.L. Ovey will be the special prosecutor and he told the court Monday morning he’s working on getting the entire file and will soon be turning over discovery to the defense.

Louisville attorney Ramon McGee represents Burse and he’s eager to be able to look over the evidence in the case.

Christian Circuit Judge Andrew Self noted the case has been going for nearly two years and set another pre-trial conference for Monday, May 8.

Burse is alleged to have used a 9 mm handgun to shoot the 48-year-old Kendrick multiple times in the torso and arms just before midnight July 28, 2021 at a location behind the East Ninth Street Dollar General on Sharpe Street.
