LSU Wins Women’s Title/UConn/SDS Plays Tonight

>>LSU Women’s Basketball Claims First NCAA Championship In Program History

(Dallas, TX)  —  The LSU women’s basketball team has made history.  The Tigers downed the Iowa Hawkeyes 102-85 in the NCAA National Championship Game at the American Airlines Center in Dallas for the first title in program history.  Jasmine Carson came off the bench for LSU and erupted for 22 points while knocking down 5-of-6 shots from three-point range.  Alexis Morris totaled 21 points for the Tigers.  LSU caps off the year with a 34-and-2 record.  Iowa’s star guard Caitlin Clark finished the game with 30 points and eight assists in the losing effort.  Clark set the record for most points in a women’s NCAA Tournament during the game.  The Hawkeyes end the year 31-and-7.

 

>>UConn Battles San Diego State For NCAA National Championship

(Houston, TX)  —  A new champion will emerge from the NCAA men’s basketball tournament.  Fourth-seeded UConn squares off with fifth-seeded San Diego State tonight in the National Championship game in Houston.  The Huskies are back in the title game for the first time since 2014 and are 4-and-oh all-time in National Championship games.  Dan Hurley and UConn defeated Miami 72-59 in the Final Four to advance.  On the other side, the Aztecs are playing in their first ever championship game and hoping to continue their historic run.  Guard Lamont Butler was the hero in the Final Four with his buzzer beating shot to defeat Florida Atlantic 72-71.
