Multiple fatalities reported after Army helicopters crash in Trigg County

Multiple fatalities are presumed after two HH60 helicopters from Fort Campbell crashed in an area of Trigg County near Lancaster Road just before 10 last night.

Fort Campbell officials say the crewmembers were flying in a routine training mission when the crash occurred and while they officially say the status of the crewmembers is unknown, Governor Andy Beshear says multiple fatalities are expected. CBS Radio News reports the number of deaths may be as high as nine.

Kentucky State Police also issued a statement, saying they were on scene, working with officials with the United States Army to assess the scene.

Kentucky Emergency Management and multiple Trigg County first responder agencies were also called to the scene.

The statement from Fort Campbell says “command is currently focused on caring for the servicemembers and their families.”
