Elkton pursuit ends in Logan County with arrest

A high-speed two-county pursuit that began Tuesday afternoon in Elkton ended with the arrest of a Clarksville man.

Elkton Police Captain Jakop Smith was patrolling in the area of US 68 and Pond River Road about 2:30 p.m. and says he observed 19-year old Hykey Daniels of Clarksville traveling 111 mph in a 65 mph zone headed east on 68.

Daniels turned onto Pond River and allegedly refused to stop, making his way to Allegre before turning onto Sharon Grove Road and then Highland Lick Road.

Logan County Sheriffs deputies deployed tire deflation devices successfully near the city limits of Russellville bringing the pursuit to a stop at Highland Lick Road and Sam Walton Drive.

Daniels was then arrested without incident and charged with first-degree wanton endangerment, fleeing or evading police, reckless driving, speeding, driving without a license and several other counts.

The Todd County Sheriff’s Office and Russellville Police Department also assisted in the investigation.
