The Tennessee Highway Patrol has released details on a two-vehicle accident from early Sunday morning that killed six people and injured two others, with at least some of the victims from Kentucky.
The preliminary report shows a BMW driven by 23year old Matthew Flint of Alabama and a Toyota Camry operated by 21-year old Tania Rodriquez of Kentucky had both been westbound near the 23 mile-marker in Robertson County when they collided.
Rodriguez’s vehicle overturned and came to rest on its top, according to Robertson County EMS, which says multiple people were ejected.
The THP says Rodriguez was killed, along with five passengers—35-year old Rina Reeves, a 12-year old female, a 5-year old girl, a 3-year old female and a 1-year old female. Another passenger, 18-year old Anthony Gellardo of Kentucky, was injured and taken to an area hospital.
Gellardo was the only person in the car properly restrained, according to the report, which says the incident remains under investigation and no charges have been filed at this time.
The THP does not release the city of residence for individuals involved in accidents, citing a state law.
Additional details on the circumstances of the crash are expected to be released once the investigation is complete.
