Grand jury to hear stabbing assault case

The first-degree assault case against 50-year-old Darryl Dixon is now heading to the grand jury following a preliminary hearing in Christian District Court Wednesday morning.

Hopkinsville Police Detective Jason Sears testified during the hearing that Dixon and the victim had been in an argument off and on all day on March 5, and it ultimately became physical.

Dixon is alleged to have sliced the victim’s arm with a machete, stabbed her with a knife and struck her in the face, causing injuries that required emergency treatment.

Detective Sears says she will have to undergo long term physical therapy and treatment to retain the use of her left arm. He says Dixon is the one who applied the first tourniquet to stop the bleeding and the one to take the victim to the hospital.

Dixon is charged with first-degree assault, kidnapping and resisting arrest. Judge Lindsey Adams determined there was probable cause and sent the case onto the grand jury for consideration of indictment.
