Attorney negotiating possible plea agreement for accused sex offender

A Hopkinsville man who allegedly admitted to making sexual contact with a five-year old child is hoping to have his case resolved in the next few months.

Public defender Eric Bearden represents 35-year old Dustin McDaniel and said during a hearing Monday morning he will continue to be in discussions with prosecutors in Hopkins and Christian County about resolving the cases in both counties that are involving the same victim.

Judge John Atkins scheduled another hearing for April 26.

Hopkinsville police investigated the allegations and arrested McDaniel in March of last year for sodomy in the first-degree against a victim under the age of 12.
