A Hopkinsville man is facing charges of first-degree assault and kidnapping, after he allegedly cut and stabbed a woman with a machete during a dispute earlier this month.
According to the warrant from the Hopkinsville Police Department, officers responded to Jennie Stuart Medical Center on March 5 for reports of a female victim with multiple injuries that resulted from an assault. Upon arrival, officers determined the victim had a severe cut to her left arm that required stitches, a puncture wound on the same arm, a stab wound on her left ankle and a black eye. Medical officials say she could lose mobility in her left hand due to the extent of the injuries.
She told officers she had been at the home of 50-year-old Darryl Dixon of Hopkinsville, when they got into an argument that became violent. He allegedly would not let leave the residence and then reportedly stabbed her with a knife, sliced her arm with a machete and punched her in the eye.
The victim reported that she and Dixon had done methamphetamine before the assault.
Dixon was arrested by the Christian County Sheriff’s Office and charged with first-degree assault domestic violence, kidnapping—with serious physical injury—and resisting arrest.
