The Todd County Health Department is reporting a ‘large outbreak’ of Pertussis, more commonly known as whooping cough.
Two people have tested positive and health officials say they are aware of at least 15 individuals who have been treated for pertussis and many more who are either using natural remedies or are refusing to be treated.
The Todd County Health Department reminds that those who are vaccinated against Pertussis are at the lowest risk of contracting the illness.
Pertussis is very contagious and is especially dangerous for babies.
