Sports wagering bill passes full House

A sports betting bill is making its way through Kentucky’s legislature.

The House in Frankfort yesterday passed the bill which will now make its way to the Senate. Representative Michael Meredith says it would bring in around 23 million dollars a year, most of which would go to the public pension system.

Those against the legislation believe it would harm Kentucky families. Six of Kentucky’s seven bordering states have already legalized sports betting, with Missouri the only exception.

State representative Myron Dossett supported the bill, while Representatives Walker Thomas, Jason Petrie and Mary Beth Imes voted against it.
