Christian Fiscal Court quickly worked through a routine agenda Tuesday morning and heard an update on the recent fuel pipeline spill on a property near Buck Fork River Road and McKinney Road.
Emergency Management Director Randy Graham says the accidental strike was caused by a third-party excavating in the area in February and it resulted in the release of diesel fuel.
Initially believed to be a very large fuel spill, Graham says crews determined it to be not as severe as feared and it was all diesel.
He says BP and their contractors have taken extreme measures to keep the fuel from reaching a nearby creek.
Graham says as many as 200 people were on scene at one time and mitigation efforts and dirt removal will last for at least a few more months.
