The Kiwanis Club of Hopkinsville got a visit from Christian County Judge-Executive Jerry Gilliam Thursday, who says his administration is working to achieve their goals and progress the county forward.
Judge Gilliam says he’s blessed to have a fantastic team leading county government and departments, saying it has allowed him to focus on the needs of the public. His offices recently moved into the old Sheriff’s Office and its allowed them work more closely together with county officials. Judge Gilliam says they’re currently in discussions with other local governments and the state on possibly widening Interstate 24 as a long-term goal.
He says he and magistrates have also been in communication with management at GFL, the trash collection service for the county, and he’s hopeful the many complaints they have received about the service will be addressed.
Unlike his predecessor, Judge-Executive Gilliam is not performing marriages for the county—but thanks to an executive order, Magistrate Magaline Ferguson is.
Talking about the economic hot spot that is Hopkinsville, Christian County and Commerce Park #2, Judge Gilliam says he’s always looking to advocate for more economic growth in the area, along with looking for ways to increase home ownership in the county.
Judge Gilliam says he’s grateful to have a Fiscal Court where every magistrate is dedicated and driven to doing the best work they can for Christian County.
