Brockman announces retirement from Parks and Recreation

Hopkinsville Parks and Recreation Superintendent Tab Brockman has made it official that he will retire, effective September 1.

According to a news release, Brockman—who has both been recognized as the Kentucky Recreation and Parks Society Professional of the Year and the Kentucky League of Cities Employee of the Year—has served as superintendent for eight years. In that time, he introduced numerous community events, including the Summer Salute, the Hoptown Half-Marathon and 5K, Sounds at Six and more.

Brockman says, “The spirit of collaboration in this city and county are what makes so many things possible in Hopkinsville and Christian County. Huge thanks to every person, agency and organization that has helped our Parks and Rec team during my time in this role.”

Mayor J.R. Knight says, “Tab Brockman is, without question, the best Parks and Recreation director in the Commonwealth. He raised the bar in his profession as well as raised our quality of life for the City of Hopkinsville. I cannot thank him enough for his contribution to our community.”
