Todd Chamber honors farmers, raises money for 4-H and FFA

Todd County raised money for its 4-H and FFA chapters and heard from the subject of one of RFD-TV’s most popular shows Thursday morning at the Chamber of Commerce Agriculture Appreciation Breakfast.

Tiffany Groves is the chamber executive director and recognized several people in the crowd who have farmed for 50 years or more.

Kevin Kalb and his family are one of the featured families on Live to Farm, as he is one of the top corn-yielding farmers in the country and he began his time on RFD-TV on Corn Wars.

He says his current show highlights the importance of the family dynamic in his farm operation and it works to educate the public—farmers and non-farmers.

With the percentage of American families involved in farming dwindling each year, Kalb says it’s important for farmers to speak up on behalf of their craft and to educate as much as possible.

A B&B Farms country ham was auctioned off for $6,250 to H&R Agri-Power and all of that money will go to the Todd County FFA and 4-H chapters. Hip Harvest is selling Todd County farmers t-shirts with proceeds going to those groups and Marklin Insurance donated $500 to each organization.

Todd County is No. 1 in Kentucky for egg production, in the top 10 for grain production and there are 603 farms with over 168,000 acres of farm land.
