Christian Fiscal Court approves CASA lease agreement, hears positive animal shelter report

Christian Fiscal Court on Tuesday heard a very positive animal shelter report and approved a lease agreement for Court Appointed Special Advocates to move into a portion of the former judge-executive’s office on Weber Street.

Judge-Executive Jerry Gilliam says CASA, which assigns volunteer victim advocates to children involved in the court system, is wanting to move their offices from the very small former KSP building into the former judge’s office.

An amended lease agreement was approved and it will be reviewed from year to year.

Christian County Animal Shelter Director Irene Grace announced there were 15 more cats and dogs going out the door to their new homes in January than were brought in.

District 8 Magistrate John Bruce gave an update on improvements at the Hopkinsville-Christian County Airport, saying efforts to clear trees that are in the approach path to the runway are getting underway.

In other action, magistrates approved a resolution honoring former magistrate Kenneth Bates, who died February 14 following a brief illness.
