Devin Burkes Has Wright Stuff in Series Win

Devin Burkes is a five-alarm inferno right now. The sophomore catcher drove in a career-high seven runs as Kentucky won the series over Wright State with a 15-0 victory on Sunday at Kentucky Proud Park. In the three-game series he was 8-of-13 with seven doubles, a home run, five runs, 10 RBI, two stolen bases and had 18 total bases.

Kowalik Powers Kentucky to Late Night Win, Splits MNCC Finale

The No. 18 Kentucky Softball team split a pair of games on Saturday night in its final day of the 2023 Mary Nutter Collegiate Classic in Palm Springs, California. The Wildcats fell 9-3 to No. 19 Northwestern in the first game of the night before holding off UC Riverside in a 3-0 scoreline, as the game was stopped in the sixth inning at 11:26 p.m. PT/2:26 a.m. ET. UK went 3-2 in the tournament, also falling to #1 UCLA while defeating #8 Washington and San Diego State.

Louisville Surges Past Purdue, No. 23/25 UCF on Final Day of Knights Classic

The University of Louisville softball team’s offense erupted on the final day of the UCF Knights Classic as the Cardinals overcame a 3-0 deficit to beat Purdue 4-3 and registered season-highs in runs and hits to beat host No. 23/25 UCF 15-5. The Cardinals finish the weekend with a 4-1 record in the tournament. Their only loss coming at the hands of #23 UCF on day one.

Cardinals Bounce Back to Win Series over Bowling Green

The fourth-ranked University of Louisville baseball team shook off its first loss of the season, 9-6 on Saturday, in a big way. They secure the weekend series with a 14-1 victory over Bowling Green on Sunday at Jim Patterson Stadium. Louisville (6-1) racked up 14 runs on 15 hits and allowed just one run on the mound for the third time in seven games. Patrick Forbes led the way offensively with a 3-for-4 day, driving in two and scoring twice. Five other Cardinals had two-hit days including Ryan McCoy, who hit his fourth home run of the young season. Carson Liggett (2-0) surrendered just one run in 5.2 innings of work, striking out six for his second victory of the year. Will Koger, Wyatt Danilowicz and Cameron Robinson took care of the final 10 outs to finish it off.

Softball Ends Hilltopper Classic with a 6-1 Win over Illinois State

The Tops wrapped up the annual Hilltopper Classic in victory fashion, with a heavy 6-1 win over the Illinois State Redbirds. Kelsie Houchens, who earned her fifth win of the season, split the game in the circle with Katie Gardner. The Hilltoppers split all six hits on the board among six different players, both TJ Webster and Faith Hegh going .500 on the afternoon with a hit and a walk a piece. After recording her first career hit and RBI last night, freshman Kaytlan Kemp got her first career start for the Red and White, taking the field at second base, while recording a hit at the plate. They would finish 4-1 on the weekend, their only loss coming to Jacksonville State.

Hilltoppers Suffer First Loss of Season on Sunday

WKU Baseball dropped its series finale with Ohio, 6-4, Sunday afternoon at Nick Denes Field. The loss snapped a seven-game win streak to start the season for the Hilltoppers, moving the squad to 7-1 on the season. Despite the loss, WKU claims its second straight series win, taking three of four games against the Bobcats.

Racers Fall to Blazers in Series Finale

Murray State baseball fell at the hands of UAB 3-2 on Sunday afternoon at the Hoover Met Stadium in Hoover, Alabama. Outfielder Dustin Mercer continued his hot start to the season with his first home run of the season in the sixth inning of the contest. The Racers had six hits in the battle with two extra-base hits coming from Mercer’s solo home run and an RBI-double from catcher Ethan Krizen in the first inning. Riley Hawthorne, Carson Garner, and Cade Sammons all collected a base hit to round out the offensive game for the Racers. Ryan Fender made a strong start for MSU after allowing just two earned runs in 4.2 innings pitched while striking out six. Reliever Ben Krizen tossed three solid innings for the Racers while striking out two and allowing just one run. The Racers drop the series 1 game to two.

Racers Top Bellarmine in Milkman Finale

The Murray State softball team beat Bellarmine, 4-2, Sunday at Racer Field in Murray, Kentucky in the final game of the Inaugural Velvet Milkman Invitational. They would go 4-1 over the weekend, with their sole loss coming to Miami (OH).

Govs drop series finale at Dallas Baptist

Austin Peay State University’s baseball team struck for four runs in the sixth inning but it wasn’t enough as Dallas Baptist claimed the series finale, 10-4, Sunday at Horner Ballpark and the Govs leave Dallas without a win.
