Chairman Tom Ricketts talked to the media yesterday in Mesa and said the team wants to make the postseason consistently. He said, “The boom-and-bust cycle that has been with so many clubs in baseball, we want to kind of get out of that.” Chicago finished last season 74-and-88. The Cubs take the diamond against the Giants in their first spring training game on Saturday.

(Goodyear, AZ) — The Reds are adding a reliever to the mix. Cincinnati announced yesterday that Bennett Sousa was claimed off waivers from the White Sox. The left hander struggled in his debut last year, pitching 20-plus innings while giving up 19 earned runs. The team placed Vladimir Gutierrez on the injured list to make room for Sousa. The Reds play the Guardians in their first spring training game on Saturday.
