Christian County School System Superintendent Chris Bentzel says security protocols should be enhanced at the entrances to local high schools by the end of this week.
Appearing Tuesday morning on the WHOP Early Bird Show, Bentzel said the district hopes to have a special-called school board meeting Monday of next week to accept a bid to purchase weapons detection devices for both high schools and the Bluegrass Learning Academy.
In the meantime, Bentzel says the high schools have been planning enhanced security protocols at the entrances using wanding and checking bags and that could begin as soon as Thursday or Friday of this week.
Regarding the high school consolidation process, Bentzel says he’s hopeful Hafer Architects will finish the construction documents in the next week or so and the first phase could be bid out again about a month or so later.
