Ribbon cut for accessible swing set in DeBow Park

There is now a swing set at DeBow Park in Hopkinsville that will let those who are wheelchair-bound enjoy the fun that comes with the new accessible feature.

There was a ribbon-cutting to celebrate the occasion Tuesday afternoon with members of the Christian and Todd County Board of Realtors on hand to show how the equipment works and will benefit local youth. The effort was fully funded thanks to a grant written by Gaye Wilson, who says she was driven to write the grant after being made aware of the need in the community.

Chris Jung with Jennie Stuart Health says this accessible swing set showcases community partnerships while promoting health and fun opportunities for those who wouldn’t have the option otherwise.

The swing-set had it’s first use Tuesday, as Caleb Hayes took the first swing on the equipment that is now open for use and ready for fun.
