Local, state and federal officials are working together after a pipeline was recently struck by a piece of equipment.
Emergency Management Director Randy Graham says the accidental strike was caused by a third-party excavating in the area Thursday and it resulted in the release of liquid fuel.
There were no injuries reported and the pipeline was shut-in and secured while the incident is investigated.
Graham says impacts of the release are confined to the immediate area and property near Buck Fork River Road and McKinney Road in north Christian County and BP promptly notified local, state and federal officials about the incident.
Christian County Emergency Management is working with BP, the Kentucky Department of Environmental Protection and the EPA to resolve the issue and minimize any impacts on the environment.
