Voters in Christian County will have the same 16 voting centers for the May primary as they had to choose from in last year’s general election following a Board of Elections meeting Thursday morning.
Christian County Clerk Melinda Humphries says after hearing community feedback, the board decided to stick with the 16 voting centers in May and then re-evaluate the turnout data again before deciding whether to consolidate a couple of the centers with lower turnout into the busier centers for November.
Early voting will remain at the Christian County Senior Center and Bruce Convention Center for the primary and in-person absentee voting at the Christian County Courthouse.
Democratic representative Barbara Morris, who was appointed to replace longtime member Jim Gardner following his resignation, is resigning and the Christian County Democratic Party has submitted names to the State Board of Elections, which is expected to appoint a replacement next week.
