HHS locked down again after report of threat

Hopkinsville High School was again placed on lockdown Wednesday afternoon after a report of a potential threat.

Hopkinsville Police Captain Rico Rodriguez says say a teacher overheard a conversation where a student allegedly made a threat against the building and it was reported to the school resource officer.

Additional officers weee called to the scene and three students were taken into custody, with investigation determining only one had allegedly made the threat against the school.

There were no injuries and Captain Rodriguez says no gun or any other weapon was located during the investigation. He also doesn’t believe a gun was mentioned in the conversation.

He says a male juvenile student was charged with second-degree terroristic threatening.

Hopkinsville High and Middle School were both placed on lockdown during the incident.

Last week a student was arrested on multiple charges for bringing a gun on campus at Hopkinsville High School and the school board Monday night voted to purchase weapons detection devices for both high schools and the Bluegrass Learning Academy.
