City council to consider emergency demolition services in special-called meeting

There will be a special-called meeting of Hopkinsville City Council Thursday evening, as two buildings on South Main Street have been declared a hazard.

City Administrative Officer Troy Body says the buildings—which include the addresses of 806, 808, 810 and 812 South Main Street—have been determined to be a hazard by a structural engineer and deemed an emergency hazard by the Fire Chief and Fire Marshall.

The state of the buildings needs to be addressed quickly, so a special-called meeting was scheduled to declare an emergency and approve an agreement for emergency demolition services.

Those buildings at one point housed Lee’s Pool Hall, Woods Pharmacy and the Main Street Café.

The meeting will take placed Thursday at 6 p.m. in the Hopkinsville Municipal Center council chambers.
